Winning with Math
Connecting prisoners with mathematical tools for decision making
Elections are rarely straightforward, and seemingly small choices about how they are run — such as what voting method is used, how many seats each state gets in the House of Representatives and how political districts are drawn —can determine the winners. This project is advancing mathematically-focused research in these areas.
Then, using what he learns through the research, Samuel Gutekunst will work with Prisoner Express to develop a math reasoning and critical thinking program for incarcerated men and women. The team will then survey participants to find out how to maximize the impact of the prison-education program.
