Veterans’ Playwriting Project
Offering a four-week playwriting intensive for Chicagoland women of color veterans
Veterans often face psychological distress, and the social stigma associated with this distress can prevent them from finding communities of support. With the goal of alleviating feelings of isolation, the Veterans’ Playwriting Project is a four-week playwriting intensive for Chicagoland women of color veterans. In partnership with Steppenwolf Theater, five to 12 participants create short plays on their post-war experiences with trained teaching artists. The plays are shared at a public reading, and participants learn where they can find additional support opportunities.
