Sustainable Living in the Peruvian Amazon
Investigating a longstanding nonprofit's impact on local community partner learning and behavior
This project investigates the impact of Conservación de la Naturaleza Amazonica del Peru, A.C. (CONAPAC), a nonprofit dedicated to promoting conservation and social development through education in the rainforest of Loreto, Peru. CONAPAC has operated in the region for almost 30 years, with a robust history of community-engaged work in education and sustainable development from which to gather insight. However, they have had little opportunity to systematically research the impact of their work. This project focuses on understanding how CONAPAC’s work has shaped the ways communities learn about, conceptualize and interact with the Amazon forest in which they live.
