Engaged Opportunity Grants
Research and Policy in the New York State Legislature
Creating opportunities for legislators to learn about social science research
Non-partisan research is invaluable to legislators striving to make informed decisions about policies that will benefit society. The New York State Legislature has a strong connection to Cornell faculty in economics and agriculture, but little connection to the College of Human Ecology, a state contract college. The goal of this project is to host a seminar at the State Capitol that brings together Cornell researchers and New York policymakers to highlight College of Human Ecology research; support policymakers with timely, relevant evidence that can inform policy decisions; and lay the foundation for a long-lasting relationship between the university and the state legislature.
