Serve in Place Fund

Prisoner Express

In this experience, the recipient worked with Prisoner Express in an effort to give incarcerated individuals an avenue to share their experiences. The student engaged with the issue of the prison system’s dehumanization of people, and actively worked to create a system to mitigate the issue. The student created a book that collected incarcerated individuals’ stories. Overall, the student had the goal of showcasing the humanity of imprisoned individuals, which is often overlooked. The student aimed to publish and distribute the book to libraries and to the public.
