Community-Engaged Student Travel Grants
Preserving Heritage Through Co-Creative Engagement Colca Valley
The community of Colca Valley (District of Coporaque, Region of Arequipa, Peru) is dedicated to preserving its history and traditions, especially as young people continue to move away from the district. In collaboration with Casa Cultural Colca and the Escuela Secundaria, I.E. N° 40382 “Virgen de Chapi,” the grant recipient encouraged students and community members to realize that there are many ways of preserving their heritage, including through oral histories, which was the focus of this project.
