Engaged Opportunity Grants
Presentations on Home Care Worker Research
Supporting travel to present results on community-engaged research about home care workers who care for adults with heart failure
Home care workers (HCWs) are increasingly caring for adults with heart failure (HF), but few studies have examined their role in patient care. This qualitative, community‐partnered study examined the perspectives of these HCWs, and findings showed that: 1) HCWs are involved in key aspects of HF care, but many have not received HF training, and 2) HCWs are frustrated by poor communication and team integration among other medical providers.
To raise awareness about these issues and design interventions to address them, researchers are gathering input from a variety of stakeholders: HCWs, nurses, family caregivers, physicians, home care agency leaders and policymakers. This grant funds opportunities to present this research at conferences and local venues and to study participants.
