Engaged Opportunity Grants
Launching a Medical French Course
Preparing students for community-engaged learning projects in Francophone communities, both local and abroad
The Department of Romance Studies is designing a medical French course that incorporates and/or leads to community-engaged learning experiences. This grant supports several planning and supplemental activities, including a campus presentation by Patricia Carrick, a nurse practitioner who has worked with Doctors Without Borders; a workshop with Carrick on the medical French course syllabus; a student survey about the proposed course; public presentations about the course; and an annual showcase for students to describe their community-engaged learning linguistic and cultural experiences.
Topics: Access, Equity and Justice; Children, Youth, Seniors and Families; Culture, Language and History; Health, Nutrition and Medicine
