Ithaca Sleep Out
An event to raise awareness about homelessness and what people can do to help
Homelessness is a growing issue in Ithaca. The Ithaca Sleep Out (October 2018) aimed to raise awareness about the realities of homelessness, the prevalence of homelessness in Ithaca and steps that anyone can take to help. Students in the Engineering Leadership Program coordinated the event with local homelessness nonprofits, student organizations and the City of Ithaca. Held in Ithaca’s Stewart Park, the event featured speakers, a donations drive and small-group conversations with homeless and formerly homeless individuals.
