Engaged Opportunity Grants

Forum on Making Our Histories Visible

Community event to launch collaborations for the new Tompkins Center for History and Culture

There is a growing interest in Tompkins County in learning about local history and narratives as a way of forging strong ties to a place. The Forum on Making Our Histories Visible is an exploratory step toward establishing The History Center of Tompkins County as an important community networking site for research and teaching opportunities and cultural heritage. To launch important collaborations, a one-day forum on the Cornell campus some time in August 2018 brings together representatives from educational and civic organizations to share information and resources with various local and regional communities to make the histories of the local and regional landscapes more visible and more readily accessible for research, teaching and heritage tourism.
