Engaged Opportunity Grants
Engaged Scholarship in California’s San Joaquin Valley
Developing, analyzing and publishing stories of engaged learning and research in the San Joaquin Valley
People who live and work in California’s San Joaquin Valley face a set of complex problems related to climate change, water rights, environmental justice, immigration and poverty. What roles are engaged scholars playing in helping residents, community organizations, businesses and policymakers understand and address such problems? Using narrative inquiry and analysis methods, this collaborative project with the Central Valley Partnership is developing, analyzing and publishing stories of engaged learning and research in the San Joaquin Valley, with special attention to lessons and implications for theory, practice and policy that apply to contexts beyond California. The project also includes public seminars and workshops at Cornell to share and explore findings with students, staff, faculty and other community members.
