Engaged Opportunity Grants

Ed-venturous Learning

Designing community-engaged curricula for immigrants and refugees to better understand how to navigate their new communities

As the world faces a forced displacement crisis of 68.5 million people, accessible education and workforce development resources are more critical than ever to support individuals seeking to integrate into new environments. This grant supports the development of interactive curricula that strengthens and advances language and soft skills for immigrant/refugee adults, leading to greater civic participation and integration. The two main projects are a case-study curriculum with immigrants as protagonists and interactive board/card games. With ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) educators locally/regionally, this project team is designing, developing and testing curricula to assess learning, language and social-based outcomes.

Topics: Access, Equity and Justice; Economic Vitality and Entrepreneurship; Education
