Serve in Place Fund

Career Planning and Educational Resources for College-Aged Youth in Foster Care

In this experience, the student worked alongside the Administration for Children’s Services in New York City to facilitate career workshops for youth in foster care. The organization is dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of vulnerable youth in NYC, and the student found that the employment support for foster youth in particular was inadequate and left a disproportionate impact on the community’s entry to professional fields. In her work, the student coordinated with the organization to facilitate programs and training for the youth involved, enabling the community to have experiences and knowledge of resources and potential career options.
