Engaged Opportunity Grants
Bridging the Policy-Academia Divide
Connecting science faculty and their students with federal policymakers
Policymakers and academics have a lot to learn from one another, but they do not often have the opportunity to interact. This project aims to build bridges by sending faculty and students to Washington, DC to meet with federal policymakers and discuss how science is incorporated into the policymaking process. Students will better understand the policy questions, practices and structural constraints that policymakers deal with, and policymakers will network with academics and students in order to facilitate future collaborations for evidence-based policymaking.
