Engaged Opportunity Grants
Best Practices in Senior Living Staffing
Providing simple tools, strategies and data-analysis tasks for the highly fragmented, senior living industry
This project team — including undergraduate research assistants — is producing video tutorials, articles and spreadsheet tools to help senior living communities manage workforces in ways that improve both care delivery and employee satisfaction. The new materials fall into three categories: 1.) promoting best practices established in literature, such as the optimal size of an on-call pool; 2.) showing how to perform basic analytics, such as measuring consistency of care or turnover; and 3.) showing how to make use of public data, such as the CMS five-star rating data. A senior living workforce consultant is helping identify and refine specific topics for project materials.
