Engaged Opportunity Grants
An Evening with Dr. Beverly Tatum
Hosting esteemed author, educational leader and clinical psychologist Dr. Beverly Tatum for a keynote address about race in schools
Author, educational leader and clinical psychologist Dr. Beverly Tatum is widely recognized as an expert in the experience of black families in white communities, racial identity in teenagers and the role of race in the classroom. The Center for Teaching Innovation is partnering with the Village at Ithaca to allow members of the Ithaca community to hear Tatum and benefit from her knowledge and experience with issues of race in schools. Tatum’s appearance as a keynote speaker highlights the Village at Ithaca’s mission to advocate for excellence and equity in Ithaca’s public schools by developing strategic community relationships, programs and services that ensure all students — particularly black, Latino and low-income students — meet or exceed local and New York state standards of achievement.
