Programs for Students

There’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to community-engaged learning at Cornell. Explore the  three program areas to see what interests you most.

  1. Engaged Leadership: Develop skills and discover how to lead with a public purpose
  2. Events and workshops: Dive deeper into issues you’re passionate about
  3. For credit: Earn credit and meet degree requirements through community-engaged learning courses or research


Engaged Leadership

  • Foundations of Community-Engaged Leadership

    A three-week intensive series offering students the tools to collaborate with communities and pursue change in any issue of public concern

  • Certificate in Community-Engaged Leadership

    Build on your interests and apply your experiences (from courses to extracurricular activities) to this program to develop the skills you need to be a community-engaged leader.

    • Funding: $2,300 maximum across 3 stages
  • Community Engagement Showcase

    An annual celebration of community-engaged learning at Cornell through poster presentations, guest speakers, networking and awards

    • Program date: November 2, 2020
  • Engaged Ambassadors

    A cohort of students who have completed the Certificate in Community-Engaged Leadership and lead a variety of special projects for the Office of Engagement Initiatives

Events and Workshops

  • Be the Change Workshops

    Workshops designed to build technical engaged-leadership skills to be more effective in your community-engaged learning.

  • Community Engagement Showcase

    An annual celebration of community-engaged learning at Cornell through poster presentations, guest speakers, networking and awards

    • Program date: November 2, 2020

For credit

  • Community-Engaged Learning Courses

    Taking students beyond the classroom to collaborate with communities — in Ithaca and around the globe — to design, implement and evaluate real solutions to real problems
