Sarah Edwards ’19
Major: Human Biology, Health and Society
Minor: Inequality Studies
I’m passionate about … studying the disparities in healthcare that people of color face.
Engagement experience: Building Ourselves through Sisterhood and Service Peer Mentorship Program, Peer Partnership Program, Loaves and Fishes, Women’s Opportunity Center, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., residential advisor
As an Engaged Ambassador, I … work with students in different stages of the Certificate in Engaged Leadership to give them the tools they need to reflect on their community engagement and explore different opportunities.
I got involved because … after reflecting on how I got involved in communities of color on and off campus, I realized that I would not have had the impact I had without the help of all of my mentors. I am very excited to be an Engaged Ambassador so that I can mentor students dedicated to uplifting their fellow community members as well through hard work and coalition building.
My friends would say I’m … joyful.
Fun fact: I was born on Thanksgiving.
Future plans: I am attending Howard University College of Medicine next fall in pursuit of a career in anesthesiology.
