Engaged Ambassadors

The issue of public concern I am passionate about is … health inequity.
Engagement experience: My engagement experience started through service at the Ithaca Mental Health Association and advocacy at the Cornell LGBTQ Center. After moving on through stage 2 [of the Certificate in Engaged Leadership], I decided to go back to hospice service which I was previously involved in before I came to Cornell. Now I am balancing my position as an Engaged Ambassador, continuing my volunteerism in Hospice and working with a local nonprofit to eliminate childhood food insecurity.
As an Engaged Ambassador, I … advise undergraduate students on conducting community-based research projects that connect back to their engagement service experience.
I got involved because … I wanted to make my time at Cornell have meaning, not just to myself, but to the community in Ithaca.
My friends would say I … drink too much coffee and spend too much time in Olin Library, but I have a big heart.
Best Cornell memory (so far!): Visiting a winery on my birthday with the friends I have made over the past two years.
Fun fact: I’m adopting a puppy after the Fall semester is over!
Future plans: I plan to take a year off and backpack around the country, and then apply for medical school.
