Engaged Ambassadors
Isabel Dawson ’23
Major: Information Science, Systems and Technology
The issue of public concern I’m passionate about is … lots of things, but I’ve mostly worked to combat food insecurity and to support the environment.
Engagement experience: I’ve volunteered at Loaves and Fishes for five years, built a community garden, interned at a different community garden and most recently I started and am currently running a free grocery shopping and delivery service for Cornell students in quarantine.
As an Engaged Ambassador, I … love working closely with so many amazing people doing such great things!
I got involved because … I was given a Serve in Place grant and I’m in the Certificate in Community-Engaged Leadership program, and I loved the people I met who work for the office and the programs were really educational and helped me develop my views on community engagement.
My friends would say I’m … thoughtful, kind, open-minded and interested in learning.
Best Cornell memory (so far!): Sledding at midnight on borrowed* yard signs with a few friends! *not stolen, we returned them
Fun fact: I play the accordion.
Future plans: I have absolutely no idea!
