Training Students in Grant Matching and Writing for Rural K-12 Schools
Rural schools often lack adequate funding and staffing. Yet, grants that exist for K-12 schools go to a disproportionate number of larger suburban and urban districts because rural schools don’t have the administrative capacity to seek and apply for grant money. It’s a vicious cycle.
To address this issue, Gretchen Rymarchyk is creating an ongoing project where Cornell students connect with rural schools, help discern funding needs that could be served by grants and apply for grants on the schools’ behalf. Through the program, students will learn basic skills in locating, matching and successfully applying for grant opportunities, while rural schools get the resources they need to thrive.
Engaged Faculty Fellowship Program
A yearlong cohort program in which faculty dive deep into the theory and practice of community-engaged learning; meet monthly to discuss readings, share projects and workshop challenges; and help transform what it means to teach at Cornell
